Why Can't We Drill On Our Own Soil?

So, gas prices are rising . . .

Why doesn't the United State drill for oil in our own country though? Two words answers that question. Environmentalist dipsticks.

Do we even have enough oil in U.S. soils to produce enough for the demand that the U.S. needs?
We do in fact, however we cannot get it due to all the guff environmentalists cause.

Shell lost 4.4 billion dollars [2.2 billion just for the lease*] off the Artic Ocean off the nothern coast of Alaska. Shell spent roughly 5 years and over 4 billion dollars on plans to explore and drill for oil in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. However, environmentalists put up a fight saying by drilling for oil, there would be air permits and endanger the environment for the "people who live there." Ironically, there is very few people who live off the Artic Ocean, and by drilling . . . they wouldn't be effected. But, environmentalists say yes. The public is very ignorant and doesn't realize this. We CAN produce our OWN oil [instead of purchasing it overseas and paying more and more = D-E-B-T!] but we CAN'T because dipsticks like environmentalists put a stop to it!
